Privacy Policy
Effective September 28, 2026
This policy covers the Text Christian website, the web app at textchristian.com/app, the Text Christian iPhone app, and texting Christian. Text Christian is operated by Sorry Not Public LLC ("Text Christian," "we," "us").
1. What we collect
- Your phone number, when you sign in or text Christian.
- Your name and email, when you fill in "Tell us who you are."
- Your messages. What you send Christian and what Christian sends back, along with when they were sent. Conversations about your life and faith can be personal, and we treat them that way.
- Photos, videos and PDFs you send to Christian in the app or by text. See section 6.
- Voice input. When you tap the microphone to speak a message, your words are turned into text by your device's speech recognition (in the iPhone app, on your iPhone when it supports it, otherwise by Apple; on the web, by your browser's speech service). We don't record or store the audio; only the resulting text is sent, like a typed message.
- What you add in the app, like prayer requests, things Christian remembers, reminders, your faith preferences (Bible translation, tradition and home church, all optional), a name or photo you give Christian, your edits to Christian's SOUL.md, posts you like, and reports you send us.
- What you share in Groups, like the groups you start or join, the messages and prayer requests you post, the activities you add, your RSVPs, check-ins and activity logs, when you tap Praying or mark a reading as read, and people you block. See section 7.
- Your consent choices. That you confirmed you're 18 or older and agreed to AI processing, and when you did.
- A push notification token, only if you turn on notifications in the iPhone app. See section 9.
- Browser tasks and logins you save, only if you use them: the tasks you ask for, their results, and the website logins you save (passwords are encrypted in a dedicated secret store). See section 8.
- Usage records, like how many messages you send and how much AI processing each reply used, so we can apply message limits and manage costs.
- Basic technical information, like your IP address and browser or device type, which our hosting providers log automatically when you use textchristian.com or the app. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and a code library from jsDelivr, which see your IP address the way any website you visit does.
We don't use advertising trackers or sell data to advertisers.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure, including sending sign-in codes.
- To let Christian read your messages and reply, and to remember context so its replies make sense.
- To contact you about your account, such as when a spot opens on the waitlist.
- To send push notifications you've turned on, like when Christian replies or a group activity you're going to is about to start.
- To show what you post or add in a group, like messages, activities, RSVPs and check-ins, to that group's members.
- To review reports you send us about a reply, a group, a post or a problem.
- To keep the service working, fix problems, and prevent abuse.
3. Who we share it with
Apart from what you choose to share with other people in Groups (see section 7), we share information only with service providers that help us run Text Christian, and only what each needs to do its job:
- Supabase: stores your account, messages, photos and files.
- Twilio: sends your sign-in codes.
- Sendblue: delivers messages between you and Christian over iMessage and SMS.
- Meta: only if you choose to message Christian on WhatsApp, where offered, WhatsApp delivers those messages.
- Vercel: hosts our website.
- AI service providers: Christian's replies are written using AI models from third-party providers we choose (and may change over time). The content of your conversation, any photos or files you share, and any email or calendar details Christian looks up to answer you, are processed by them to generate each reply. We only use providers that don't use this data to train their models. See section 5.
- Google: if you connect your Google account, to read and act on your Gmail and Google Calendar as described below.
- Browserbase: only if you ask Christian to do something on a website, runs the private web browser Christian uses for that task. See section 8.
- Apple: if you turn on notifications in the iPhone app, Apple's push notification service delivers them to your device. Each notification includes the start of Christian's reply.
Every service provider we use is bound by contract to protect your information with the same or equal protection described in this policy, and to use it only to provide their service to us.
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or your text-messaging opt-in with third parties or affiliates for their marketing. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Text Christian, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
4. If you connect Google
Connecting your Google account is optional. When you do, you choose which permissions to grant, and Christian uses them only to help you:
- Gmail (read and create drafts): to find emails you may owe a reply on, summarize or read an email when you ask, and save reply drafts in your Gmail for you to review. Christian never sends email for you.
- Google Calendar (read and add events): to tell you what's coming up and add events you ask for.
- Your Google email address and name: to show which account is connected.
We look up email and calendar details when Christian needs them to answer you, rather than copying your inbox. We store only what's needed to keep you connected (an encrypted access token) and the conversation you have with Christian. We never sell Google data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models, and people at Text Christian don't read it unless you ask us to for support, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.
Text Christian's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disconnect Google anytime in the Text Christian app under Settings, Connectors, or from your Google Account permissions. Disconnecting deletes the stored token.
5. AI and your consent
Christian is an AI assistant. Before Christian uses AI to answer you, we ask you, in the app or on textchristian.com, to confirm you're 18 or older and to agree that your messages are processed by our AI service providers as described here. Until you agree, Christian doesn't send your messages to them. We keep a record of when you agreed. You can withdraw your agreement at any time in the app under Settings, then Permissions; after that, Christian stops using AI to answer you until you agree again.
To answer you, Christian sends our AI service providers the recent conversation, any photos or files you shared in it, the things Christian remembers about you, and any email or calendar details it looks up for you. They process this to write the reply and don't use it to train their models. If you change your mind, you can stop chatting with Christian at any time and delete your account, as described in section 12.
6. Photos, videos and files
When you send Christian a photo, video or PDF, in the app or by text, we store it privately in our storage provider, Supabase, in a folder tied to your account. Only you can see it in the app, through links that expire after a few hours. When Christian needs to look at a photo or PDF to answer you, it's sent to our AI service providers for that reply. People at Text Christian don't look at your files unless you ask us to for support, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.
The iPhone app asks for access to your camera, photo library or microphone only when you choose to take or pick a photo or video to send, to speak a message instead of typing it (which also asks for speech recognition), or to save a photo from your chats. You can change this anytime in your iPhone's Settings. When you delete your account, your photos, videos and files are deleted with it.
7. Groups
Groups are for reading the Bible, praying, planning activities and talking with other people in the app, whether it's a Bible study, a run club or a tennis night. When you start or join a group:
- Members of the group see your first name and last initial (like "Maria G."), when you joined, and what you post there: messages, prayer requests, when you tap Praying, and which readings you've marked as read. They also see the activities you add, your RSVPs (Going, Maybe or Can't), your check-ins and the activities you log, like a 3 mile run; when you check in or log an activity, a line saying so is posted in the group's chat. They never see your phone number or email.
- Activity locations are text typed by whoever adds the activity, like a park or a street. The app doesn't read your device's location. Tapping a location opens it in your maps app.
- Everyone on Text Christian can see a public group's name, kind (like Run club), description, cover, reading plan and member count, so they can find and join it. Invite-only groups can only be joined with their invite link or code.
- Reminders. If you say you're going, or might be going, to an activity, Christian reminds you about two hours before it starts: by push notification if you've turned them on, and by text if you text Christian.
- Blocking. If you block someone, their messages and prayer requests are hidden from you.
- Reports. If someone reports a post or a group, our team may review the reported content, who posted it and the group it's in, and remove it if it breaks our Community Guidelines. Otherwise, people at Text Christian don't read your groups unless it's needed for security or the law requires it.
- AI. What you post in a group isn't sent to our AI service providers. The study questions Christian suggests for each reading are written from the Bible passage alone.
You can delete your own messages and prayer requests, and change your RSVP, at any time. If you leave a group, what you already posted stays there for its members. When a leader deletes a group, or you delete your account, those posts, RSVPs and check-ins are deleted too.
8. Browser tasks and saved logins
If you ask, Christian can do things on websites for you, like booking a table or checking an order, using a private web browser that runs for that task. To do the task, the pages Christian visits are processed by our AI service providers, the same way as your conversation (see section 5).
- Saved logins. You can save a login for a website through a secure link Christian texts you, or in the app under Settings, then Secure credentials store. Passwords are encrypted and kept in a dedicated secret store. They're never shown to Christian or our AI service providers, never put in your chats, and never shown in the app. Christian types them into the website for you.
- Used only when you ask. Christian uses a saved login only for a task you asked for, and asks you before using it.
- Your approval first. Christian asks for your OK before paying for anything, booking, sending messages to other people, deleting anything, or accepting terms for you. Christian doesn't solve CAPTCHAs; it hands those to you.
- Deleting. Delete a saved login anytime in Settings, then Secure credentials store. Your logins, browser tasks and the browser's saved cookies are deleted when you delete your account.
9. Push notifications
If you turn on notifications in the iPhone app, your iPhone gives us a push token, a code that lets Apple's push notification service deliver notifications to that device. We store the token with your account and use it only to let you know when Christian replies and for reminders, like a group activity you're going to. It isn't used for advertising.
To turn notifications off, go to Settings, then Notifications in the app and switch off Push notifications, or turn them off in your iPhone's Settings, then Notifications, then Text Christian. We delete tokens that stop working, and all your tokens are deleted when you delete your account.
10. No tracking
We don't track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. We don't use your device's advertising identifier, we don't include advertising or third-party analytics tools in the app, and we don't share your information with data brokers.
11. How long we keep it
We keep your account and messages for as long as your account is active, so Christian can remember your conversations. When you delete your account in the app, we delete your information right away. If you ask us by email instead, we'll delete it within 30 days. In either case, we may keep something where we need to meet a legal obligation.
12. Your choices
- Delete your account anytime in the app: go to Settings, then Data controls, then Delete account. This deletes your account, conversation, side chats, prayers, memories, reminders, photos, files, group posts, RSVPs and check-ins, saved logins and browser tasks, and disconnects Google.
- Download your data in the app under Settings, then Data controls, then Download my data.
- Edit or delete what Christian remembers, your prayer requests and reminders by asking Christian, from Christian's profile (tap Christian at the top of Chat), or in Christian's MEMORY.md.
- In Groups, delete your own posts, change your RSVP, leave a group, or block someone at any time.
- Stop messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Turn off push notifications as described in section 9.
- See, correct, or delete your information by emailing support@textchristian.com from the email on your account.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. Contact us and we'll help.
13. Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to the systems that need it. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
14. Children
Text Christian is for people 18 and older, and we ask you to confirm your age before you start. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.
15. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by text or email before it takes effect.
