What is Text Christian?

Christian is an AI assistant for everyday life and faith. You can chat with it in the Text Christian app or text it like you'd text a friend. It can pray with you and follow up on prayer requests, look up Scripture in your preferred translation, set reminders, remember what matters to you, and, if you connect Google, help with your Gmail and Google Calendar. The Feed shows news from churches in Tampa Bay and Christians around the world, and Groups let you do life together: read the Bible with your small group, or start a run club, a tennis night or any other club, plan activities and stay active with one another.

How does texting Christian work?

Text (707) 363-1387 by iMessage or SMS from the phone number you signed in with. Your texts and the app are the same conversation, so you can start in one and pick up in the other. Message and data rates may apply. See our SMS Terms.

I'm on the waitlist. How do I get in?

We're letting people in a few at a time. When a spot opens, Christian sends you a welcome message in the app, and by text if you've texted Christian before. If a friend already uses Text Christian, they can send you an invite link from the Invite button in the app. Open it and sign in with your number, or enter their code in Settings, then Redeem invite code. While you wait, you can browse the Feed in the app.

How do I stop texts?

Reply STOP to any message from Christian. You'll get one confirmation and no more texts. Reply START to opt back in, or HELP for help.

How do I turn notifications on or off?

In the iPhone app, tap Turn on in the chat, or go to Settings, then Notifications, and use the Push notifications switch. You can also turn them off in your iPhone's Settings, then Notifications, then Text Christian.

How does Text Christian use AI?

Christian's replies are written using AI models from trusted third-party providers. To answer you, the content of your messages, and any photos, files, email or calendar details you ask about, are processed by those providers. They don't use this data to train their models. We ask for your OK before Christian uses AI to answer you, and you must be 18 or older.

AI can be wrong. Christian isn't a pastor, counselor, doctor, lawyer or financial advisor, so check anything important with a qualified person. Read more in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

How do I report a reply from Christian?

In the app, press and hold any message from Christian and choose Report this reply. You can add a reason. Our team reviews every report. You can also go to Settings, then Report an issue.

How do Groups work?

Open the Groups tab and tap +, then Create a group. First pick what kind of group it is, from a Bible study or prayer group to a run club, tennis, pickleball, basketball, soccer, cycling, hiking, golf, fitness and more. Give it a name and, for a Bible study or prayer group, pick a book of the Bible to read a chapter at a time; each reading comes with discussion questions from Christian. Every group has its own chat, activities and prayer list. The person who starts a group leads it and can edit it, remove posts and remove people.

To invite people, open the group, tap Members, then Invite people, and share the link or code. To join with a code, tap + in Groups, then Join with a code. Groups open to anyone also show up under Discover, where you can filter by kind of group. To leave, open the group, tap the three dots at the top, then Leave group.

How do activities, RSVPs and check-ins work?

Open a group and tap Activities. Anyone in the group can tap Add activity and give it a title, date, time, location and notes, and choose Weekly if it repeats, like a Saturday run. Whoever adds an activity can edit or delete it, and the leader can edit or delete any of them. On each activity, tap Going, Maybe or Can't so the group knows who's coming, and tap the location to open it in Apple Maps or Google Maps. If you say Going or Maybe, Christian reminds you about two hours before it starts, by push notification if they're on and by text if you text Christian. The next activity in each of your groups also shows up under Up next at the top of the Groups tab, where you can tap I'm in to RSVP.

Once an activity has started, tap I was there on it to check in, which posts a line in the group's chat. For something you did on your own, like a run between meetups, tap Log an activity, pick the kind, and add a distance or time and a note if you like. Check-ins and logged activities count toward This week at the top of Activities, which shows how many members have been active and the group's streak.

Meeting in person? We don't vet members, so meet in public places, tell someone where you're going, and use good judgment. See our Community Guidelines.

How do I report or block someone in a group?

Press and hold a message in a group's chat (on a computer, click the three dots next to it), then choose Report or Block. On a prayer request, tap its three dots, then Report. You can also report or block someone from the Members list, and report a whole group from the three dots at the top. Blocking hides that person's messages and prayer requests from you. Our team reviews reports within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks our Community Guidelines, and the people who post it.

How do I connect or disconnect Google?

Connecting Google is optional. In the app, go to Settings, then Connectors, and choose Gmail or Google Calendar. Disconnect the same way, or from your Google Account permissions. Christian never sends email for you. It only saves drafts for you to review.

How do I download my data?

In the app, go to Settings, then Data controls, then Download my data.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings, then Data controls, then Delete account (it's also at the bottom of Settings, then Account). Type DELETE and tap Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account, conversation, side chats, prayers, memories, reminders, the photos and files you've shared, and your group posts, RSVPs and check-ins, and disconnects Google. It can't be undone. You can also email support@textchristian.com and we'll delete it for you.
